Open Garden Days for 2013

"There is no delight in owning anything unshared." Seneca the Younger    Roman philosopher (ca. 4 BC – AD 65)

In past years we have opened Distant Hill Gardens to the general public only one or two days annually, usually as part of local multi-garden tours or as a participant in the Garden Conservancy's Open Days. This year, in order to begin realizing Our Vision for Distant Hill, we have decided to expand on the number of days we will share our property with others and to offer educational nature walks and gardening demonstrations.

THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE BUT DONATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Contributions will go toward covering our expenses, such as the printing of brochures, handouts and signs, and the cost of renting a portable restroom. Any additional funds will go toward improving the public Accessibility of Distant Hill Gardens.

Morning Walks

Beginning at 10 AM every 'Open Garden Saturday', there will be a one to two hour walk through the forests and wetlands of Distant Hill. Each stroll will be led by a local educator and will have a theme based on what nature has to offer of interest at the time.

Afternoon Talks

And at 1PM every Saturday afternoon we are open, Michael will give a short demonstration on a timely gardening topic. These discussions will be held outdoors in the gardens, weather permitting.

For schedules and topics for both the morning and the afternoon events, please go to the Walks and Talks page of the website.
